Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW: Sterling NT is seeking a motivated and experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to assist in the delivery of our ground’s maintenance contracts. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills to ensure high-quality service delivery, compliance with standards, and client satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Grounds Division Manager the successful candidate will have an eye for quality and detail, excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to lead and support operational teams in the field.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Supervise day-to-day delivery of grounds maintenance contracts, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate grounds maintenance and gardening services operations
• Manage the day-to-day human and operational resources
• Assist in scheduling, allocating, and monitoring staff workloads across multiple work sites.
• Conduct site inspections and audits, ensuring high-quality outcomes and identifying areas for improvement.
• Monitor and manage performance, including completion of work orders, defect rectification, and reporting via specific data logging systems.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to field teams to meet company standards and client expectations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure contract deliverables are met.
• Ensure all operations are carried out in accordance with company policies, environmental requirements, and WHS legislation.
• Oversee plant, equipment, and materials management, ensuring correct use, maintenance, and availability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in service delivery, safety, and efficiency.
Desired Skills and Experience
SELECTION CRITERIA:
ESSENTIALS:
• Proven experience in supervising grounds maintenance, landscaping, or civil operations.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of WHS practices, risk assessments, and safe work methods.
• Competence in using digital reporting systems
• Ability to interpret and deliver on contract requirements.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with teams and management
DESIRABLE:
• Certificate III or IV in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens, or related discipline.
• Experience working in local government or infrastructure maintenance contracts.
• Knowledge of traffic management requirements in urban and rural environments.
